A vast amount of education occurs outside of the classroom, whether this be on the sports field, in music and drama pursuits or on field trips. In addition, Newlands College offers a programme of overseas trips.
Recent trips to Japan, Germany, France and Rarotonga have provided language immersion for students while enhancing their cultural awareness and visiting prominent landmarks.
Biannually, over recent years, our Humanities trip has offered students studying geography, history, classics or English an opportunity to take in the cultural, historical and literary highlights of England, Belgium, France and Italy.
A recent 'Arts' trip to New York City, provided students with a memorable opportunity to explore the cultural offerings in the visual and performing arts and musical performances. Students had the opportunities to explore their love for the arts in a city like no other.
The biannual World Challenge trip travels to Southeast Asia. Previous trips include Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Students are given leadership roles to organise transport, accommodation, food and activities on tour. A community support project at a rural school, jungle treks and sightseeing make this a fully immersive cultural experience.
